Hand Engraved Stanley (fixed blade) Utility Knife

Offered here is a beautiful vintage Stanley 199 utility knife, hand engraved by The Tool Engraver (known on Instagram as @thetoolengraver).

This classic cast-metal utility knife measures approximately 5.5 inches long and weighs about 3 ounces. Simple, durable, and unmistakably traditional in design, the Stanley 199 represents the kind of straightforward working tool that has earned a place in workshops and toolboxes for generations.

The scroll design was created entirely from scratch and executed by hand using a Steve Lindsay hand graver. Every line was individually cut into the metal—no laser engraving, no machine replication—giving the design genuine depth and permanence while preserving the character of the original tool.

The engraving and handle have been carefully colored blue to complement the lightly polished metal frame, creating a strong contrast that highlights both the scrollwork and the knife’s classic lines.

As a vintage working tool, the knife may show minor dings and other honest signs of age and previous handling. These have been left as part of its history and vintage character rather than attempting to make the knife appear new.

This is more than a vintage utility knife—it is a functional heirloom. Equally suited for continued use or display alongside a thoughtfully curated collection of fine and unusual tools, it combines the familiar practicality of a Stanley shop classic with traditional hand-cut artistry.
