Hand Engraved Crain (fixed blade) Utility Knife

Offered here is a beautiful new old stock Crain No. 730 Utility Knife, hand engraved by The Tool Engraver (known on Instagram as @thetoolengraver).

Built from cast metal and measuring 5.5 inches in length, this knife weighs a solid 5.6 ounces—providing the balance and durability professionals appreciate in a dependable utility tool. The Crain 730 is known for its rugged construction and practical design, making it equally at home on the jobsite or in the shop.

The scroll design was created entirely from scratch and executed by hand using a Steve Lindsay hand graver. Every line was individually cut—no laser engraving, no machine replication—ensuring authentic craftsmanship with depth and permanence. While the overall scroll pattern remains consistent, subtle variations naturally occur because each knife is engraved one at a time by hand, giving every piece its own character.

The engraving and handle have been carefully colored to complement the lightly polished metal frame, enhancing contrast while preserving the knife’s clean, professional appearance.

Included are three new Stanley utility blades, so the knife arrives ready for use.

This is more than a utility knife—it is a functional heirloom. Designed to perform reliably while carrying the timeless character of traditional hand engraving, it is equally suited for daily work or display.
