Offered here is a beautiful vintage Bonney 199 utility knife, hand engraved by The Tool Engraver (known on Instagram as @thetoolengraver).
Crafted from cast metal, this knife measures approximately 5.5 inches in length and weighs about 3 ounces—lightweight yet sturdy, with the straightforward durability that defined many mid-century shop tools. Bonney tools have long been appreciated for their honest construction and dependable performance.
The scroll design was created entirely from scratch and executed by hand using a Steve Lindsay hand graver. Every line was individually cut—no laser engraving, no machine replication—ensuring authentic craftsmanship with lasting depth and character.
The engraving and handle have been carefully colored black to complement the lightly polished metal frame, creating a refined contrast while maintaining the knife’s clean, working appearance.
As expected with a vintage tool, there may be a few minor dings consistent with age and prior use—marks that speak to its history without affecting its functionality.
Included are two new old stock utility blades, allowing the knife to arrive ready for use.
